It’s all about getting involved
If you want to see change, you have to make change.
If you want your voice to be heard, you have to show up.
I personally took the opportunity to become actively involved in advocacy and policy as it relates to cannabis, in particular, California’s Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA) to protect patient’s rights and the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (Prop 64) to legalize recreational marijuana in the State of CA.
My current advocacy work is laser-focused on what I believe to be the future: cannabis consumption lounges. Consumers need a safe and legal social space for cannabis consumption. I regularly work closely with the State of California’s cannabis agencies offering insights and support for loosening regulations to give licensees an easier time as they attempt to open up new cannabis businesses. I also spent over four years actively working with the City of West Hollywood to develop and eventually craft a progressive cannabis ordinance which allows for the development of standalone consumption lounges. These consumption spots might be paired together with restaurants and entertainment venues, or even coffee shops or bakeries. Think Amsterdam on steroids!
I was the first Chair of the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Cannabis Legislative Committee as well as an active member of the Governing Affairs Committee for the same body. From early 2015-2017, I served on the leadership team of the Women Grow Los Angeles chapter. I have successfully produced countless events both with Women Grow and as Connecting Cannabis to educate and empower new and existing cannabis businesses via a quality speaker series and high level business networking events.
